New Sun Room Addition, Harvard MA

Our featured project is a new one story sun room addition in Harvard MA. The addition will feature automatic electric venting Velux skylights. These skylights can be opened and closed via a remote control. They are also equipped with rain sensors that will automatically close the skylights if it starts to rain. For energy conscious clients these skylights have electronic blinds. All the features on these Velux skylights can be programmed to function automatically on a daily basis.

The sunroom also featured custom Anderson windows. Note the geometrical shapes on the side windows. We can custom order any size or shape for your project. Another value added feature was the radiant heating mat by Nuheat under the tile flooring. This heating source is more economical than conventional heating sources and provides more BTU’s when compared to a standard baseboard heating system.

This project also provides a great example of our value engineering service. The client already had drawings of the proposed sunroom when they approached us for a quote. The plans called for three rows of skylights which caused the ceiling beam to fall directly in the sightline of the front of the room as it was only five feet from the floor. We offered an alternate plan that removed one row of skylights and raised the roofline so that the ceiling beam was not an obstruction and provided additional usable living space in the room as the height of the ceiling was raised. The design change also provided the client with a cost savings as they eliminated one row of skylights and increased the aesthetic design.

If you have a special project please give us a call for a free consultation. We can look at existing plans or drawings or start fresh as we offer full design build services.
